Across the country, over 2,200 mayors will be leading their communities in recognizing and committing to community service and volunteerism. In partnership with the Corporation of National & Community Service, National League of Cities, and local Americorp teams, the Mayor will commit the city government to being a leader in service.
The day of activities will start with the a visit to the Americorp’s Foster Grandparent program at Drew Central at 8:00AM. There will be a ceremony on the downtown square at 10:00AM, where the city will kickoff the Mayor’s Volunteer Service Initiative and recognize community volunteers. Following the ceremony, community volunteers will be asked to join Americorp workers to conduct a city-wide sidewalk audit as the a community-wide service project.
