The Auxiliary is composed of nearly 30 local residents who donate their time, talents and energy to support the hospital, its patients and their families throughout the year. This includes managing the gift shop and holding fundraisers to support funding for medical equipment and scholarships to UAM nursing students.
During a recognition luncheon, Mayor Tucker presented hospital administrator Scott Barrilleaux with a proclamation signed Monday declaring April 11-15, Healthcare Volunteer Appreciation Week.
"Your dedication to service helps the hospital provide a higher quality of service and care to its patents and our residents," said Mayor Tucker. "A state volunteer study reports for every hour you volunteer in the healthcare field you are saving our local hospital, our local government, $15-20."
During the luncheon the hospital recognized each Auxiliarian, including special recognition for the members who service 15, 20, 25, & 30 plus years.
