The Council, which will be lead by Alderman Steven Mays of Pine Bluff, is charged with drafting and recommending the League’s economic development policies and providing policy input and ongoing discussion on legislative matters concerning Arkansas’ cities.
“I welcome this appointment,” said Mayor Tucker. “It provides a great opportunity to learn what is working in cities across the state and to ensure the interests, needs, and values of Monticellonains are being heard in Little Rock & the legislature.”
Before serving Monticello as its full-time mayor in 2015, Tucker worked as a professional community and economic developer; and has a masters degree in Community and Economic Development from the University of Central Arkansas. Tucker is a participant of the Central Community Development Institute; and a member of the Arkansas Community Development Society & Arkansas Economic Developers.
The Arkansas Municipal League is the chief advocacy organization for Arkansas municipalities. The League serves its 501 member cities through legislative advocacy, optional benefits programs, training and educational opportunities, and multiple publications & resources.
