Provencher graduated from the UAM in 2012, earning a undergraduate degree in political science. He then went on to attend the Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock, where he earned a Master's of Public Service in 2014. Prior to accepting the position, Nick served as a Visiting Instructor of Political Science at the UAM; and brings a track record of success in public management and community development.

The Assistant to the Mayor has been a post used by Mayors from McCloy (1934) to West (2002), and revitalized by Maxwell in 2013, to assistant the Mayor’s Office in carrying out its administrative duties.
