Monday, Monticello Mayor Zack Tucker received a letter from Governor Hutchinson announcing Arkansas Department Parks & Tourism has awarded the city $35,000 of grant funding from the state’s Trails for Life Grants Program.
The grant will go towards construction of a health & fitness walking trail, while the connecting existing sidewalks within Jordan Park.
“I am proud we are finally be able complete the walking trail,” said Monticello Mayor Zack Tucker. “The path will provide a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to walk and be active, while watching their children enjoy the park's play equipment; all while providing connectivity within the park.”
The health & fitness walking trail will be part of Monticello’s primary neighborhood based park. Jordan Park provides various recreational opportunities including, two baseball fields, a splash pad, basketball courts, ADA accessible play equipment, and the city’s community building.
